Dune 2.11 - Release Notes

Dune 2.11 brings improvements in many modules. Again, a particular focus has been the update of the build system moving towards a more modern CMake design.

As a service, this release involves more modules than earlier releases, providing some helpful functionality. In particular, there is now

Another important change is that dune-functions stopped depending on dune-typetree. Other modules such as dune-pdelab and AMDiS still do depend on dune-typetree, but if you are not using those you may delete dune-typetree from your installation. Beyond this release the future of dune-typetree is uncertain – we may decide to not develop it any further.

Dependencies

In order to build the DUNE core modules you need at least the following software:

  • C++ compilers LLVM Clang >= 13 or GCC g++ >= 10, with standard library LLVM libc++ >= 13 or GNU libstdc++ >= 10.
  • CMake >= 3.16
  • pkg-config to find other optional dependencies
  • The Python bindings require at least Python 3.7 or higher and are currently not compatible to libc++.
